Year 2 focuses on building a stronger foundation for career readiness. Students deepen their skills through career-related events, guided reflection, supervisor conversations and resources that connect their student employment experience to future goals.
Checklist for Student Employees
Complete the following activities to continue building your career readiness skills during Year 2.
Attend Two Career Related Events (Fall or Spring)
Participate in two events that support career exploration and professional development. These experiences may include workshops, career fairs, employer panels, networking events or résumé and interview sessions.
Complete the Career Guide (Fall or Spring)
Complete the Career Guide to reflect on current skills, interests and career goals. Discuss key takeaways with your supervisor and identify next steps for continued growth. The Career Guide will be emailed out.
Complete a Supervisor Check-in (Fall and Spring)
Meet with your supervisor once each semester to discuss progress, feedback and professional development. These conversations provide an opportunity to recognize growth and identify areas for improvement.
Complete Career Profile (Spring)
Create or update a career profile that highlights work experience, skills, interests and career goals. The profile should reflect the knowledge and abilities developed through student employment.
Review the Career Center Document
Review the Career Center resource to become familiar with available services, tools and programs. Use the information to identify resources that can support career preparation and future opportunities.
